The three public school districts that serve the West St. Louis County
Chamber communities are highly rated in the State of Missouri and
nationally recognized for their excellence.
Parkway School District has a long history of helping children
achieve their highest potential. The district, which covers 68 square
miles and has an enrollment of 20,000 students, invites success for all
students through a well rounded, challenging curriculum delivered by
dedicated, highly trained teachers. Parkway, which recently became
"Accredited with Distinction," the highest possible accreditation
status given by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary
Education, has five high schools, five middle schools, 18 elementary
schools and an early childhood center. In 1997, the district earned its
14th Blue Ribbon Award for Excellence in Education from the U.S.
Department of Education, and 17 Parkway schools have earned Gold Star
awards from the State of Missouri.
The educational focus in the elementary schools is on basic
subjects and concepts. Parkway's middle schools utilize
interdisciplinary teaming designed to meet the academic, social and
emotional needs of early adolescence. The high school curriculum
provides a comprehensive selection of required and elective courses to
prepare students for a higher education.
Parkway has been recognized by Expansion Management magazine as one
of the top-rated school districts in the country when comparing
academic achievement and community support. Visit parkway's Website at

Rockwood School District is a local and national award-winning
district. Rockwood students excel in their performance on state tests
and continue to out-perform in comparison to state averages. In fact,
more than 50 percent of Rockwood's elementary students who took the
Missouri Assessment Program scored at the Proficient or Advanced levels
in Math, Communication Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Health &
P.E. In 2002, Rockwood high school students' ACT scores continued to
exceed the state and national averages. A high-level of achievement is
one of the reasons Rockwood is recognized for "Distinction in
Performance" by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary
Education.
Statistics, however, are just one aspect of learning in our
district. Some of the most important indicators of a school's success
cannot be measured. These successes include the hours spent by caring
teachers carefully preparing individualized lessons, the life and
social skills learned by students in the classroom and in
extracurricular activities, and the dedication of parents and
volunteers who give of their time to promote a quality learning
environment. It is all these efforts that contribute to the quality of
teaching in Rockwood and our students' notable accomplishments.
The goal of our 2,800 employees continues to be a personalized
education for our students within an innovative working environment.
Our mission is to ensure that all students obtain the skills, abilities
and attitudes necessary to be lifelong learners and productive citizens
with integrity. Rockwood provides programs to meet the needs of all
students. Modern classrooms are equipped with the latest technology.
Separate campuses for gifted students, early childhood programs and
alternative high school education add to this culture of achievement.
With enrollment of 21,800 students, Rockwood is the largest school
system in St. Louis County. The Rockwood School District covers more
than 150 square miles and serves distinct communities including all or
parts of Ballwin, Chesterfield, Clarkson Valley, Ellisville, Eureka,
Manchester, Wildwood and Winchester.
Valley Park School District has an strong educational tradition
dating back to its beginning in 1881. Educational excellence is evident
in the district's fully accredited rating by the Department of
Elementary and Secondary Education and the North Central Association
accreditation. The District was honored for Distinction in Performance
by the State of Missouri. Valley Park High School is a designated A+
High School.
With all its school buildings on one campus, Valley Park School
District takes pride in offering a private school setting in a public
school environment. Our one-site feature provides teachers with
wonderful opportunities for collaboration across the grade levels and
academic disciplines. Cited by the State of Missouri as a leader in
technology, Valley Park has computers in every classroom with Internet
access, seven computer labs, mobile lab carts with 25 laptops, and a
high-tech distance-learning center. Nine of the elementary classrooms
have a computer for every two students.
In September 2003 Valley Park Elementary will open a new Early
Childhood Center. The District takes great pride in its facilities. In
the last eight years the District has either built new facilities or
renovated existing ones so that students learn in a modern, safe
environment. Valley Park Schools are a great place to learn. |
