Carol Sealey actively served the Chamber for years, becoming the
Chairman of the Board in 2001. In light of her death on March 1, 2002,
the Board of Directors is pleased to announce the formation of the
Carol Sealey Education Fund. Anyone who ever met Carol, learned
something. With this Fund, we can carry on her spirit to learn.
Funding will come from any tickets sold for door prizes, 50-50
drawings or mini-auctions held at monthly General Membership Meetings.
All money raised will be held in a separate account and used for the
following high schools and purposes:
Seven high schools served: Rockwood's Eureka, Lafyette, and
Marquette; Parkway's South and West; John F. Kennedy Catholic, and
Valley Park. These seven high schools are all located within our chamber service area.
Purposes:
1) Leadership in Practice. The Missouri Chamber of Commerce brings together the top
leadership students between their freshman and sophomore years for a
three-day intensive leadership training. These students then apply
those skills in their community and school. Limited to 175 students,
the cost is $150 per person. Held at MO Military Academy in Mexico, MO.
2) Ethical Decision Making in the Workplace and Society. Conducted
locally with 10 to 20 students from each high school. Cost
approximately $10 per student and business leader.
3) Member/Volunteer Trainings. To assist with costs to send members
to Missouri Chamber Day in Jefferson City, CCEM Volunteer Training, and
other training/seminars as appropriate.
Three ways to help:
1) Donate a door prize. (The more chances someone has to win, the more likely they are to purchase a ticket.)
2) Buy door prize tickets at the lunch meetings.
3) Volunteer to assist with ticket sales at lunch meetings.
Thank you for helping us to remember Carol while strengthening our
future community employees through leadership, ethical, and membership
training. |
